Developing Transitional Play

Train players to dominate the moments that decide games — offensive and defensive transition.

"Developing players who can dominate the transition moments is key!"

In the last 15 years, analysis has made the transition moment more visible and more important than ever before. How a team reacts to losing or regaining possession has a huge influence on the outcome of the game — yet how to train these moments remains less understood. This best-selling title changes that.

  • Why It Matters

    Why Transition Moments Decide Games

The book opens by explaining why the transition moment has become so critical — drawing on footage analysis and data to show how reacting to losing or regaining possession directly shapes match outcomes.

  • Offensive Transition

Attacking Transition — Regaining & Exploiting

A detailed bank of sessions focused on how teams can exploit the moment of regaining possession — the movements, triggers, and patterns that turn a defensive recovery into a dangerous attacking opportunity.

  • Defensive Transition

Defensive Transition — Reacting & Recovering

Sessions and detail on how teams can react effectively to losing possession — the defensive recovery shape, counter-press triggers, and organisational habits that prevent opponents from exploiting the transition moment.

Who it's for: Coaches at all levels wanting to develop transition play · Those inspired by Klopp and Guardiola's transition-based philosophies · Coaches who want to train the moments that decide games

a really high quality product with really high quality books. I would recommend to any aspiring coach

Developing Transitional Play

Outstanding Resource If you're into coaching I'd recommend this, clear detail and really good fun to deliver to my side who've played 4-3-3- for quite a while now. Helped us use width better with the ball.

Developing Transitional Play

It’s a pretty good book, but the first one got lost in the post and the replacement took 3 days to arrive

Developing Transitional Play

I used this to get through my B License, it was a tool that helped for sure

Developing Transitional Play

if you are coaching high school or U19's - or older, this book is outstanding at helping you understanding where your players are mentally. Reading the first section (a book that stands on its own) will help you understand how the second section applies which is training scenarios you can use and modify. A great book.

Developing Transitional Play

Lots of grammatical and spelling mistakes throughout the pdf. Incredibly expensive for what they are and the presentation of them.

Developing Transitional Play

Sessions are good, but detail on how to run them and progression through the session is lacking
